A few quick thoughts....
First and foremost, Having my family with me this week has been the best gift I could have ever asked for. We had a zero stress, great food and lots of love!! Thank you!!
This week...there will be TONS of coupons expiring...so my advice, go thru your binders and find any coupons you might want to use...then go to your favorite data bases...(such as Hot Coupon World) and find deals!!
CVS has been looking better as of late.
Welcome to my new followers!!! I have been totally lazy! Partly, the deals have been sad for me lately. A new year, a new decade beckons....what will the next hot deal be?

Wonderful Fabulous Day!!
The weather could not be better!! Mid 70's and not a cloud in the sky. Perfect weather for getting the deals. We got 5 new strings of lights from HomeDepot!! Love them..they are super bright!!! Went to Chick-fil-A and bought a gift card for $20, got a free calandar with purchase of said gift card....every month there is a freebie Q. I was told that you don't even have to wait for the Q of the month...that if you wanted to...you could use all 12 at one time!! Here is the other deal...if you want to just buy the calandar, I believe it is $6.99...more than worth the price when you consider the savings!!! Did some great shopping at CVS. Nothing really special..just got some deals!! Then, Kroger...oh how I am loving this Mega-Sale!! Did another great shop, getting 61% off in total! Jim found some green peanuts for sale at Kroger...so he brought some home to make boiled peanuts!! Pretty yummy! All in all...it was and is a great day!!!

There had been a series of cold, bitter nights.
When I learned that they were coming,
I spent about half an hour saying goodbye.
I had personally gotten so much more from them than I gave.
The time it took for me to water and feed them was little compared to the joy they gave me.
So, as I always do, I paid homage to what God had provided.
I said goodbye to my flowers.
Some of you may stop reading here thinking me a foolish old man.
The truth is I am.
I am a fool for all things beautiful, living and an even bigger fool for God.
I'll admit there was a time when I felt silly doing this.
I'd look around hoping no one could see me.
But I had a revelation on my 59th birthday that said to live exactly the way I want to and feel no particular obligation to defend it to anyone.
In early spring, long before the last frost I placed
bags over the flowers we planted much too early.
I did it every night untilit was safe.
I struggled with it now, but this frost will turn into winter and eventually death wins out.
I began that evening at the flower box just outside our door and continued up the walkway and around our tiny pond. Stooping down next to the plant I touched each flower and said thanks.
The next morning I was sad to discover many of the flowers had died from the frost.
All of the flowers that were big and tall were now limp and dead. They were the ones that stretched to face the sun each day.
It was then I realized something important.
I would rather die with my face to the sun than live in the shadows of life.
"I wish you enough!"

my "sources" say that there is a blinkie coming to Food Lion for .50 off pasta (sorry, can't remember brand) that will double when brought to Kroger and make for free pasta!!
they is a rebate on Glade..buy any 3 items and get $5 back. My plan is to go to Target and get candle tins, using $1.50 q's ...pretty much spend less than .60 and get back $5...best news of all...you can do the rebate 3 times!!!
oops, one more tip...using the $1 q for Tide from the last P&G = Free trial size Tide @ Target!!

Acu Hoop Update
I have been "Hooping" for less than 2 weeks and I have already lost over 1 inch!!! Love this thing!!!
Hong Kong House
We went to Hong Kong House in Knoxville again yesterday. The food was once again incredible. I also want to make note of the service. We were greeted upon entering and seated at once. My very favorite part of the whole meal was when I was speaking with a woman who I am guessing was one of the owners while I was looking at the buffet. She asked if I was enjoying the meal. I told her that eating at HongKong House was more like taking a trip to a foreign country than eating at a restaurant. I also told her that our trip to HongKong House took us about 40 miles!! She looked at me and smiled, then she gave me a hug!! You just don't get that kind of service at a chain restaurant!! I am a patron for as long as they will feed me!!

So much fun!! Once again, I have my wonderful daughter to thank for turning me on to something wonderful! I got my Acu Hoop thru Amazon . I LOVE IT!! It gives you a great work out and I can do it in the comfort of my own home!! I will keep you updated with my progress, as the items claims that if you use it as recommended, you will loose 2 inches off your waist monthly until you are fit!!

Oh the places we will go....
So this past weekend was the mother/daughter shop-a-thon!! Jenn and I had a blast!! Here is a very brief synopsis:
Went to Sam's for some olive oil (yea, at my house we really can go thru a gallon!!) got some fruit too!
Went to Walmart, only because they sell WhiteCloud TP and I was able to use my $1 Q's and get 7 4pks for $7. We also found some centrium vitamins for $3 a bottle and when paired with $5/2 q's made for cheapo vits!!
Target: just saying the word makes me happy!! I LOVE the travel/trial sizes!! Got 12 trial size Crest Advance Seal whitestrips for zippo!! That is the equivalent almost 2 full size boxes that would have cost $90.00!!! Oh the shear joy of it!! There were more deals to be had, such as free trial size" Tide, All, Olay Quench, Pantene & St. Ives!!! In the end I spent $10.48 ($9.93 was tax) and got $120.00 in goodies to bring home and share!!
Kroger: let the pillaging continue!! I got $180.00 worth of goodies for $28.10!! Highlights: CoverGirl was part of the P&G $4 of 4 sale. Got tons of great makeup that can be donated to shelters!! Free Listerine pocket pacs, part of the $10/10 sale matched up with Q's!! Free Kiwi shoe laces!! Oh, and yes, the curse of the Glade Plugins is back!!: $1.99-BOGO Q = $1 each, get a $1 OYNO Cat = FREE!!!!!
CVS: School Suppies!! need I say anything more?? I also had to break down and get 2 more Olay products so that I could send in my Olay $20 MIR form!!
And as if all of this was not more fun than 2 girls can stand, Jim spoiled us rotten!! Gourmet 5 cheese Mac-n-Cheese, homemade mango sorbet, Ribeye Steaks, Homemade Cinnabons!!! It was a good thing we ran around as much as we did!!!

Thankful for all I have learned....
I just never know when my couponing skills will come in handy. As I have mentioned, our sweet dog, Fristy, has diabetes (we just learned this on Saturday). She is going to have to eat Hill's Science Diet from now on. My coupon buddy Paula told me that there is a printable for $8 off a bag. Today I just checked HCW's coupon database, and low and behold, there is a printable MIR for $25 off a bag and vet services!!! Thank you Paula and HCW for making a hard week a bit easier!!!

Some Random Thoughts....
Busy weekend....
First and most importantly...our sweet doggy, Fristy, has diabetes. We have caught it early, and she is going to be fine!!
I have done more shopping than usual this weekend. 2 trips to CVS netted me 4 Glucose Monitors, 4 Febreeze Noticebles, a bottle of Gain, a photo book (full of pics of my flower garden) a Gillette Razor and lots of school supplies for my daughter's class this next year!!
At Target..got 4 boxes of Kashi soft-baked cereal bars, 7 trial size Tide and 5 trial size ALL!!
I would like to give another shout-out to "MY" CVS!!! get aload of this..."my" sales person, Alisha walked me thru the store and helped me find my deals...when we discovered that some things were sold out...it was she that offered to get me rainchecks...and she gave me rainchecks for not only me...but for my daughter too!! (my daughter couldn't go shopping today, as she is flying back from a trip to see her Grandpa!!

True Lime!!!
I just have to turn you all on to True Lime . I love this stuff and use it all the time. I use it in water with some sweetener...viola!! Limeaid!!! They also make True Lemon, True Orange. I love all the flavors. It makes for a healthy drink!! Check out there site. Here in east TN you can find True Lime in the sugar aisle of Kroger!!!

Some Deals and Tips!!
How do you like this one...... I had a coupon for $.50 off 10 packs of Koolaid...and I also had a buy 10 packs of Koolaid and get $2.00 in sugar...Kroger had Koolaid on sale for 10/$1...so I got 10 pks of Koolaid and 2lbs of sugar for FREE!!! I also had a $.55 /10Q that Kroger had sent me for Koolaid and since I had another of the $2.00 off sugar...I did the deal twice!!!
Budweiser had a rebate for $15 off seafood or steak when you buy a 12 pcks of Bud. So we bought beer for $9.99 and got 2 pks of jumbo shrimp ($7.99 each) and will get back $15.00!!
I also want to make mention of E-coupons. P&G, Shortcuts and CellFire all work with Kroger!! ShortCuts gave me $2.50 off when I bought Pedigree Dental Treats for our dog...I also had a $1.50 Q for this same item...the item was on sale for $3.49....Yes, you did do the math right...they paid me $.51 to bring it home!!

It will make your couponing experiance more fun..and it gives the cashiers a higher level of comfort when they know you are not trying to scam them!! 2, Read your coupons carefully! If the coupon states "good on any package of Widget" that means ANY...even a sample size!! I had some $1 Q's for Tide. For me...Tide is just to pricey...but, I am willing to get FREE one load size.

Random thoughts...
Today has just been sad for me. You see...I grew up listening to Michael Jackson. In many ways his songs had become a sound track for my life. I remember feeling lonely as a kid, when the song "Ben" would play on the radio...I felt like someone else understood. I turned 21 in 1983. Yes, I went to discos!! You bet we all listened and danced to Thriller!! Am I a huge fan? No, not really...but so much of my life is tied to his music. I pray that Mr. Jackson has found the peace that eluded him in this life.
On a somewhat happier train of thought. I sent a quick email to a couple of ladies in a near by city that have started a weekly column in our news paper. Of course it is a column on couponing!! Well, I was hopeful that they could spread the word further than I that there is a real need at that animal shelter in TX...they wrote me back today...and they have put the word out on their Twitter page!!! Good Work CheapBlondes!!!

It never hurts to ask....
6 months ago Jim opened a bag of Three River's CornMeal Mix...and ewwwww there were what look looked like clumps of dirt in the bag. I called customer service and they kindly sent me 2 FREE coupons for replacement bags. Well...low and behold we didn't use them fast enough..and Three Rivers got sold to Pillsbury.....I decided that I really wanted my replacement, so I sent them my now useless Q and they replaced it!!! It never hurts to ask!!!

Sometimes I believe that God just likes to smile upon us!! Today has been my day. I am coming to you live from my new laptop with HIGHSPEED wireless connection!!! woooohoooo!!!
Jim and I went to a pottery festival today in Townsend. Way fun and got a wonderful t-shirt. Got new ink for printing lots-o-coupons!! Was greeted in CVS like a rockstar!! I love LOVE shopping at the Alcoa TN CVS!!! Got 4 cans of Campbell Soup for FREE using IP coupons with deals. Used a CRT for $5 off any 24/7 skincare, got some more of the great scrub for only $4.99, also got 2 boxes of Post Trail Mix Crunch using a raincheck (from 2 weeks ago) and 2 $2.00 IP Q's ....my total after using a $4.00 ecb was less than $3.00!!!
Found some of the True Orange at Kroger for clearance price of $1.49!! After using some peelies that were on the boxes...they were $.49 OOP!!
Got to spend my day laughing with my dear husband and calling my beloved daughter...life doesn't get much better!!!

Could you all do me a quick favor??? I heard on the radio this morning a short story about Sgt. Daniel Thornhill who was injured in Afghanistan a while back. He was injured in a random bombing and has lost both his legs and is now in therapy at Fort Sam Henry Fisher House in Houston Texas. He is paralyzed form the waist down and even with the use of prosthetics the doctors are not optimistic about him ever being able to walk again. His parents have traveled to Texas to be with him and have asked for support, but not in the way you would expect. His birthday is coming up and his parents have asked for as many birthday cards for their son as can be sent. No money or financial assistance, just birthday cards!!!! We are making ours tonight and will be sending it out in the morning. I am hoping you all could do the same and then forward this email on to your friends and family who would also send a card. Thanks and I am sure each and every card will be greatly appreciated.

Did you know that a traditional chef's hat is called a toque? (Toque is pronounced like tow with a hard k sound at the end.) The toque dates back to the 16th Century when hats were common in many trades. Different heights of different toques indicated rank within a kitchen. The symbolism of the 100 folds of the toque are said to represent the 100 different ways a chef knows how to cook an egg. @ Target got 9 Bliss Chocolate bars for zippo!! Got 4 bags of Dark Chocolate Chex Mix for .49 a bag and got 2 Glade Soy candles for $-1.21!! Yup...paying me to buy more stuff!! (math: 5.79 x 2 = $11.59 - Free Coupon from Glade - 5.79 , - $1 coupon from Target - $1.00 man Q = $3.79 plus they gave me a $5.00 Gift card!!
Had some fun at Kroger too!! The most fun of all though was as I was walking out of the store something caught my eye...next to the circular display, someone had left a "buy $60.00 get $6.00 off...so, I trotted right back in...and they gave me the $6.00 plus tax ($7.11) You have just got to love it!!!
Jim spoiled me rotten too!! We made some delish homemade Strawberry Jam!! I got a beautiful BirdBath!!

I went to walmart last night and i found hartz cat treat trial sized for .98 and there were hartz coupons for these not excluding trial sized for 1.00 off...also they had in the coupons 1.00 off any hartz product so i scanned to look for dollar items and they had flea and tick spray for cats .98 so that would be free also! so i was thinking if you have multiples of these hartz coupons dont let them go to waste even if you cant use them..donate the stuff im sure there are other hartz products for around a dollar at different stores so keep your eye out...im sure shelters will take anything a toy,treats,flea stuff whatever..just a thought i personally bought at least 15 of the treats and four of the sprays..ill keep a couple of the treats for my cat and my moms but the rest im donating and im stopping at another walmart to see what they have to use up the rest of the couponsthanks for reading hopefully you will find some great ways to use these before they expire either for your pets or someone else i hate to see them go to waste!

A quick shout out to the ladies and gents at the CVS on Halls Road in Alcoa!! How nice is it to walk into a place of business and be greated by name??? Alisha (hope I spelled that right) is so much fun!! She gets such a kick out of my deals. As a "couponer", sometimes I get the feeling that the stores think I am trying to take them for a ride. Not "my" CVS!! They really provide "5 Star Customer Service"

The little yellow bird
Have you ever had one of those experiences that you just have to stop and think about? I had one yesterday. I was out in my front yard planting the new flowers Jim and I had bought earlier in the day. I was crouched in front of a pretty large pot when I noticed a very small goldfinch fly by me and land about 3 feet from where I was crouched. I stopped what I was doing to just admire this tiny bird. The bird was hopping down off of a rock to take small drinks from the puddles formed from my watering of plants. The tiny bird kept watching me as he drank. He flew off…but not sooner did he fly back, but this time he landed right on the hose that lay only inches from where I was. This time he walked even closer to me and came to a stop right under me. I sat there in utter amazement. He looking at me and I at it. On some special level he must have known I would not harm him. It was very special…I am honored that Nature bestowed this experience on me!!

Earth Day!!!
What can you do today to help? Here is what the kids at Ripley Primary did.....
Speaking of Earth Day. Yesterday we were discussing various forms of pollution and what we could do to help clean it up. Trash on the playground was a top contribution, so I said " Do you want to go and pick it up?" they got all excited so I said " let's go!". You would have thought they were finding Easter eggs! We went half way around the school and the class filled their ziploc bags with trash. The only exception were wet things and cigarettes. I told them to be very careful and to stay on the grass. On our way back to the classroom we walked through the building. At first people thought it was candy until they got a closer look and were shocked that it was all trash from our school. We will clean up our own playground today, while our chunkies cool (recycling old crayons by melting them down in the muffin tins i bought at the yard sale by your house).

Loreal DeepSet Wrinkle Repair
The first thing I noticed when I tried this product, the smell is lovely!! Have you ever had a "scent memory"? For some reason this smelled like my mom. I tried the night cream first. It is very rich. I like the way it spreads on the skin. By morning, it all seems to have absorbed...I didn't wake up with greasy feeling skin! A++ I have to admit, I am a side/stomach sleeper, and as such, I tend to wake up with "morning face" (wrinkles caused by the way I sleep) The older I become, the more I notice that my "morning face" is lasting thru the day!!! YIKES!! I really hope that this Loreal DeepSet Wrinkle Repair will help with this!

OK...I don't know this for sure...but my sources (HCW) say that there is a coupon coming this weekend (4/19 RP) for $.50 off Angle Soft TP 4 roll package.....even when it is not on the 10/$10 the price is good at $1.22 (I have been told this is the reg price)

Re-purposing food
Would I buy Sargento Salad Finishers? The normal price is $3.99. I don't think I would at that price...but, when Kroger sells them for 2/$4 and then I have $1 Q's...making my price a dollar a bag, well then...Yes I Would!!! But wait, there's more!!! There is also a TMF rebate out there..so, now I can get a $2.00 rebate!!! I bought the Pecan Cranberry flavor. It comes with a package of Asiago cheese and a package of dried cranberries and pecans. We used the nut/berry package in with our oatmeal!!! Let's all say YUMMO!!! Then we used the cheese with some pasta we had for dinner! Now that is a great re-purpose!!!

To sweeten the deal I will do the CoverGirl and Olay deals together and use a buy $50.00 get $10.00 off CTR!!! Wish me luck!!

This month there was a $5.00 off Q for a Brita filter. I found single filters at CVS for $8.99 (I think, I will update price when confirmed) $3.99 is a great price....and when you couple that with the eco-benifits of Brita....it is a no brainer!!!

History of the Traveling Quarter Box
As you may or may not know, I work in a bank. I also can not stand waste. Having said this, let me tell you... Quarter boxes make great shipping boxes!!! So much so, that my daughter and I have sent the same quarter box back and forth across Tennessee via the postal system at least 4 times. Each time I find the "quarter box" in my mail box, I know that there will be smiles enclosed!! Surprise Mail
Today I got a make-up bag full of P&G items. I barely remember doing this deal, something about buying $20.00 worth of P&G items, if memory serves me right I think I bought something like 12 bottles of Palmolive Clean and Pure dish soap, using 12 $.075 coupons of course!! Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. Urban Farming
The 2009 garden was started this past weekend!!! Saturday we pulled out our super-heavy duty tomatoe cages. Spaced them out in the far end of the garden. This is where our snow peas and suger snap peas will grow. Maybe I should say, hopefully grow, as Sunday we got a pretty good snow!! We also planted Spinach, Lettuce and Swisschard!! YUMMY!!! For those of you who say you don't have the room for a garden, I have to say BAHHH!! The lot I live on is about 100' (at it's longest point) by 50' and is shaped like a triangle. Our garden is 7' x 40'. Watch how we turn that little lot into food$$$ this summer!!
My wonderful boss bought some chickens off the internet today. I am going in and buying 4 chicks that will live at his house. This means we might have fresh eggs pretty soon!!!

Saturday Play Day!!

Went to Kroger, was really thrown for a loop when I couldn't find the only kitty treats that my sweet JoeCat cares to eat anymore. I am lucky that there is another Kroger less than 3 miles away...and I had to go there and buy them out!! (Sorry, but the JoeCat has got to eat!!!)

In keeping with the "green" theme I came across another site which makes re-usable bags. They offer snack bags, bulk food bags and several other bags. The name of the company is Plum Creek Mercantile. I was sent some samples of a few of the different bags they carry and tested them out. I will have to say I have never seen bulk food bags like these and I am very impressed with them. In the CVS circular for 02-08-09 page 12, Listerine, price without card = $4.49-8.99, with card take off $3.00, plus I found a blinkie (the coupons that come out of the machines at the grocery and/or drug stores) for $1.00 off any Listerine 500ml or larger!!! In the CVS monthly ECB for February, Inside the front cover, top left, states "get $2 off when you buy (2) CVS/pharmacy makeup remover pads 30-300 count. Word has it that the small packages are $1.00. (I also hear that these may be found where the trial size items are located) so...you get them free!! (limit of 5 sets per household with card) But wait...there's more!! (wow, now I sound like an informercial!!!) There is a $1.00 coupon in the CVS Beauty Book (flyer)!! so now you have made a buck!! Oh happy day!!

Snow Day!!
Yesterday was a pretty slow mail day. Got some Q's that I ordered off the Coupon Master . Got some Q's for Marcal paper towels. Hopefully I can take these to Family Dollar Store and get FREE PAPER TOWELS!!!
It is very pretty out today. The snow is falling like powered sugar. I love winter. For me it is a time of rest, mentally if not otherwise. A time for being still and being thankful for all I have.
Hint for the day. If you go to My Points and print your coupons thru them, you get points that can be saved up for gift cards. In addition to this, there is a $0.50 coupon out there right now for Cottonelle TP that when doubled at Kroger = FREE TP!!! Got to love that!!

(little side note: when I worked in San Diego I was Orville's favorite teller and he would often give me coupons...that was way back when I didn't understand the value of coupons!!. He always looked just like he did in the commercials too...even down to the bowtie!!)
